The Island
Monteverde Azulado is an island of blue ocean and green mountain — small enough to walk in a day, deep enough to hold a republic.
Geography
A single volcanic island rising from a sheltered bay, ringed by reef and crowned by a peak the founders have named El Azulado for the blue haze it carries at dawn. The leeward coast is gentle; the windward coast keeps its weather.
Climate
Tropical maritime — warm year-round, with a wet season from June through October. The trade winds keep the lowlands habitable; the upland forest is cool, mossy, and clouded for much of the year.
Vision for the Land
Monteverde Azulado is to be inhabited lightly. The Charter charges the Ministry of Stewardship with keeping the island’s reef, forest, and freshwater intact for those who come after. Built footprint will be small and concentrated; the highlands and reef are held in trust by all citizens.
How we will get there
The Republic exists today as a citizenry and a Charter. The physical island will be acquired and settled in stages, funded by the Treasury and by voluntary contributions from founding citizens. Progress is published as Decrees in the public record.
